Christmas, New Year's, Hello!

I can't believe it's been almost 3 weeks since I last posted.  Yikes.  I've never been one to make resolutions, but I do think it's time that I come up with a more consistent schedule.  Not just for blogging, but for managing my time in general each day.

When I worked in an office, I got up at the same time (early) each morning, walked Derby for 20-30 minutes, showered and got ready, then headed to the office for a relatively structured day of work.  Work in the morning, lunch, etc.  Now I get up whenever I want, don't walk Derby as consistently as I did (which is the opposite of what I thought would happen!) & find myself really slacking off in the afternoon.  I think I'm going to come up with a rough schedule to keep me on track, starting with setting the alarm for the same time every day and having my walk with Derby be the first thing I do.

Anyway, this wasn't supposed to be a post about boring things!  I wanted to get caught up with the holidays and then get back on a more regular posting schedule!

Let's start with Christmas, shall we?  We spent Christmas Eve with family during the day and friends at night.  Our friends have an annual Christmas Eve bash, complete with Santa and lovely food & company.  It was so much fun.

On Christmas Day, we were up early with the mini-quiches and then hit the road around 9:30 to head to Ohio!

Derby loved her treats from Santa.  She must have been a good girl this year!

6 hours later, we arrived in Ohio!

The night of New Year's Eve was pretty mellow - we went over to a friends house for dinner and were home just before midnight.  The next day we went up to our friends lake house in Wisconsin to celebrate.

We also managed to fit in a hike through Kettle Moraine on our way back to Chicago.  We planned to take the easy route, but took a wrong turn somewhere.  2 1/2 hours later (& it was COLD!), we finished up.  Derby loved it!  She slept for the rest of the day/night.

How were your holidays?  I hope they were as wonderful as ours.

Looks like a great time!

And how funny that you mention Kettle Moraine - I remember going to Kettle Moraine Ranch every year with my Girl Scout troop to go horseback riding!
